It’s restaurant week, but it’s also OCR week. And honestly, what better way to relieve your stress other than to pretend that you already have a job and can afford a full course meal at Morimoto! Right..?

It was my first visit to Morimoto, and I could see straight away just from the interior design, it was obvious this was a top tier restaurant- successfully modern, unlike Pod, which I think tried to look modern and totally failed. It looks more like a children’s play room.

My favourite dish was actually the seared scallop which is surprising. The brown butter really cured the scallop of its fishy taste, and softened the meat so that it melted in your mouth, whilst there was a delicate balance between the pickled kabocha and the salty scallop.

The tofu was an interesting dish, they actually bring out a pot of soy bean sauce and make tofu instantly on the table. Or at least they try… The chef had to bring out a free dish since he only got it right the third time around.

Overall I was impressed, except for the dubiously shaped lamp protruding in the middle of the table. Ever so slightly disturbing.
