VP-Publisher Pamela Drucker Mann of Bon Appétit magazine says it best: “As a foodie myself, to me it was a no-brainer that food is lifestyle.”

This embrace of culinary culture has shifted how America eats today. In this day and age, there are 5 key trends that Advertising Age recognized in their recent Nov. 12, 2012 article:

  1. Convenience Redefined
  2. ‘Elites’ and ‘Realists’ Replace the Middle Market
  3. Catering to ‘Unloyal’ Millennials
  4. It’s What’s Inside That Counts (orientation towards “the presence of positives as opposed to the absence of negatives”)
  5. Small Is Getting Bigger (big brands are seeking smaller niche companies)
